One of the most constant things in life is that you are ultimately judged by what you actually accomplish. The world gives little attention to proclamations, explanations, protests, apologies and complaints. What counts most is not promise, but performance.
Good work speaks for itself, so achieve something first, and talk about it afterwards if you must. Time spent making promises, thinking of regrets and explaining failures is time wasted. Do not dream about things, do them. The most successful men in all times have been hard workers, who were intent upon securing actual results. There is much work to be done, and the world rewards those who are energetic and industrious.
