The pursuit of happiness is a natural and worthy goal, but it is wrong to assume happiness comes from the possession of expensive things, an indulgence in selfish desires, or the pursuit of pleasure. True happiness comes from self-sacrifice, self-control, temperance, and simplicity.
A clear conscience, a pure heart, and an aspiring soul are prerequisites to happiness. To be happy you must be virtuous. The virtuous are wise, the wise are good, and the good are happy. Keep in harmony with The Golden Rule.
